The Nigerian Artisans and Technicians Conference (NATCO) 2024 has officially commenced in Oyo State, with the aim of empowering artisans and technicians to drive economic growth and development in the state.
The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, represented by the Head of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Mrs. Esther Popoola, commended artisans and technicians for their contributions to Nigeria’s economy.
“This conference demonstrates our commitment to supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs,” she noted.
She emphasized the importance of innovation, urging stakeholders to focus on processing and manufacturing to add value to Nigeria’s raw materials.
In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment, and Cooperatives, in the state, Mr. Adeniyi Adebisi, thanked the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment as well as Global Sight Services Limited, the consultant engaged by the Ministry for their efforts in making the conference a reality.
He emphasized the importance of the conference in enhancing the skills of artisans and technicians, fostering partnerships between them and corporate organizations, and promoting innovation.
The conference featured an award presentation to Honourable Commissioner, Adeniyi Adebisi, by the organisers of the programme, recognizing his contributions to promoting trade and industry in Oyo State.
He also toured the stands of supporting brands, interacting with exhibitors and showcasing the state’s potential for business growth.
Alhaji Yekini Abass, Babaloja General of Oyo State, expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Government for supporting traders and artisans.
“This conference is a testament to Governor Makinde’s administration’s commitment to empowering our people,” he stated.
