
The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ogbomoso Branch, popularly known as the ‘Valiant Branch, has, on Thursday, held its February monthly general meeting/technical session in grand style amid pomp and circumstance.
Pannigeriannews.com reports that the NSE Ogbomoso is composed of engineers from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Local Government Areas, Federal Polytechnic Ayede, among others.

The meeting, held at the 250-Seater Auditorium of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, according to the Branch Chairman, Engr. Prof. Samson Olakunle Ojoawo (FNSE), was meant to honour the Institution’s Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE).
Welcoming dignitaries, eminent scholars and professionals in engineering practices, Dr. Abdul-Hameed thanked the Society for the honour of hosting the meeting.

He said, “I hereby want to, on behalf of our Governing Council, Management, Staff, Students and the entire Polytechnic Community, thank the NSE at the national headquarters under the leadership of Engr. Margret Aina Oguntala, FNSE; on the one hand, and the Valiant Branch led by Engr. Prof. Samson Olakunle Ojoawo, on the other hand, for the honour. This is not taken for granted at all.

“The Valiant Branch, no doubt, has been advancing engineering practice in Ogbomoso and beyond and this gathering marks a milestone in the journey of NSE in Ogbomoso as well as this Institution.

“As Engineers, we are the architects of progress, the builders of the future. Our dedication to innovation and providing solutions to immediate problems and challenges has always been at the heart of this noble profession.”

Part of the event was the impactful technical session led by Engr. Prof. Alice Olufunke Oke on the theme “AI in Engineering: Bridging Smart Technology with Cutting-edge Solutions”.

Prof. Ojoawo, in his remark, thanked the Rector and the Management of the Polytechnic for putting up what he called the befitting monthly general of the NSE Ogbomoso.
Ojoawo said, “On behalf of Madam President, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE who I represent as the meeting Chair, and on behalf of the Fellows, Elders and Excos of NSE Ogbomoso (a.k.a. The Valiant Branch), I seize this medium to appreciate our Host (The Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, FNSE) and the entire Management, Staff and Students of Federal Polytechnic Ayede for sumptuously and magnanimously hosting the February 2025 General Meeting and Technical Session of the Branch, for the very first time and in an unprecedented way.


“We are grateful for the affection, warm reception, hospitality, entertainment, souvenirs and all privileges. Worthy of mention is the fact that the 250-Seater Auditorium, venue of the meeting was firstly used by NSE, quite a great privilege! It was indeed a splendid outing altogether.”

Ojoawo thanked the Guest Speaker of the day, Engr. Prof. Alice O. Oke, for passionately sharing deeply from her wealth of experience during the Technical Session.
He added, “We were indeed enlightened the more in the field of AI applications to Engineering Profession.

“Again we deeply thank all our members who took out time out of their very busy schedules to make the meeting either physically or virtually. It may be of interest to note that the attendance at the meeting was a little in excess of 150 altogether. Quite an unprecedented one in the 10 year’s history of the Branch’s monthly meeting!

“We appreciate the Planning Committee members of the Host and of the NSE; it was quite a successful one.
“Kudos to everyone who has supported us in one way or the other for the outstanding outing. We are not taking this for granted as a Branch! God bless.”
The Tede-born scholar charge all the registered and registrable engineers in Ogbomosoland not to relent in discharging their professional duties towards sustainable infrastructural development, research and innovation, maintenance and resucitation of dilapidating facilities, among others.

Speaking on the upcoming World Engineering Day, Ojoawo stated, “As we look forward to celebrating the World Engineering Day 2025 come March 4, I like to on behalf of the NSE President, Engr. Margret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, charge all the registered and registrable engineers in Ogbomosoland not to relent in discharging their professional duties towards sustainable infrastructural development, research and innovation, maintenance and resucitation of dilapidating facilities, among others.

“”Then, as Oyo State Engineers gradually inch towards the hosting of NSE 2025 Internatiinal Conference & AGM tagged Ibadan 2025 in the state come December 1-5, I am enjoining us all to register on time and contribute our quotas fully to the success of the programme.
“Finally, let’s all continue to make our society better by the day as engineers.”
The popular Jossy Apala spiced the event with his cultural presentation.

Engr. Prof. Ayodele S. Omawumi (FNSE), Engr. Prof. Mujidat Omolara Aremu (FNSE), among others, were at the occasion.
Other Principal Officers of the Federal Polytechnic Ayede present included: Deputy Rector, Academic, Mr. Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo; Deputy Rector, Administration, Dr. Mukhtar Oyewale Akintunde; Registrar, Mr. Akin Odesola represented by Mr. G. K. Olatinwo; Bursar, Alhaja Rashidat Titilola Oladepo represented by Deputy Bursar, Mr. Lukman Buari; Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Samuel Oke Ogunniyi represented by Mr. Dare Adeleke.
Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, Staff and Students were also in attendance.
