
A former commissioner for public works and transport in Oyo State, Professor Abdulrahman Raphael Afonja, has again extended warm greetings and best wishes to all Muslims and Christians observing this sacred obligations.
Prof. Afonja, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urged Muslims and Christians to remember to pray for the overall well-being of Oyo state and Nigeria at large in their supplications during the holy periods of Ramadan and Lent.
Afonja, in his usual manner of lifting the poor and contributing to alleviate poverty in the society, told Pannigeriannews.com that he remains committed to giving to the poor as Prophet Mohammed spells out in his teachings.
Earlier in his Ramadan message, Afonja expressed his sincere prayers for peace, prosperity, and spiritual fulfillment for all Muslims observing Ramadan.
He also emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity, urging Nigerians of all faiths to come together in mutual respect and understanding during Ramadan.
“As we embark on the blessed month of Ramadan, I extend my heartfelt wishes to residents of Oyo state, especially the Muslim Ummah, as we begin fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.
“I enjoin all believers who obeyed the Almighty Allah’s commandment to fast in the Holy month of Ramadan, to eschew vices and imbibe godly virtues during this Holy month and beyond.”
In his Ramadan message, Afonja stressed the values of empathy, generosity, and charity that are central to the spirit of Ramadan and encouraged Muslims to support one another, particularly during these challenging times.
“As we fast and pray during Ramadan and Lent, let us also remember those who are less fortunate and in need of our assistance. Let us strive to uphold principles of compassion, empathy, and generosity that define this holy month”. Afonja said.
