
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogbomoso zone has elected a new Chairman, Comrade AbdulRasheed Taiwo, who is the current Zonal Coordinator of Majlis Khudam Ahmadiyyah Group.
Comrade Taiwo hails from Ikoyi, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In an election held at Osupa area of Ogbomoso in the presence of top leaders and members of the organisation, Comrade Taiwo polled a total of 11 votes to defeat his opponent, Comrade Ganiyu Oyeyemi, who polled of 4 votes.
Pannigeriannews.com learnt that the position of the General Secretary will be done later before the swearing-in ceremony which will hold in September this year.
Speaking after the election, the Zonal Chairman, Comrade Mathew Oyewusi, charged the chairman-elect and other members to remain committed to the progress and development of the council.
Comrade Oyewusi charged the members to be industrious in their chosen careers, noting that self-reliance and meaningful engagements of youths would bring sanity to the Nigerian system.
A topnotch leader of the council and former State Chairman, Comrade Dr. Oluwabukola Olatunji, who congratulated Comrade Taiwo, also thanked the zonal leaders and members for their cooperation and support towards the development of the zonal council and the society at large.
He advised all to contribute meaningfully to the council, without trivializing their zeal for personal development.
In his reaction, Comrade Taiwo thanked the entire NYCN and its delegates for their unflinching support that culminated in his victory at the poll.
He solicited the cooperation and commitment of all and sundry with a view to carrying on the legacy bequeathed by other past leaders.
