The BSquare Political Group in Ogbomoso has sharply criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso North Local Government over its recent comments targeting Hon. Damilare Sunday Olusanjo (DSO), who resigned from the party recently.
In a statement signed by the group’s chairman, Mr. Adeseko Gbenga Okanlawon, the group described the PDP’s remarks as a desperate and petty attempt to downplay what it called a “critical loss” for the party.
The group condemned the labeling of DSO—popularly known as BSquare—as a “desperate defector,” calling the narrative a “reckless distortion of facts” and “a clear indication of internal unrest” within the PDP.
“Instead of mocking a dedicated party loyalist, the PDP should confront the root causes of its growing instability and fix its leaking structure,” the statement read.
Contrary to the PDP’s claims, the group emphasized that DSO had never held any elective or appointive position within the party, yet was instrumental in strengthening its grassroots presence in Ogbomoso North and across the region.
“During the mass defections of 2022, DSO chose to stay, rally support, and mobilize resources that led to electoral successes in the 2023 general elections and the 2024 local government polls,” the statement continued.
The group further noted that DSO’s political engagement was never driven by personal ambition or the pursuit of titles. “While others chased appointments, he remained behind the scenes—funding party activities, supporting candidates, organizing empowerment initiatives, and building bridges between the party and the people,” the group said.
Describing DSO as “a stabilizer, unifier, and selfless mobilizer,” the group asserted that his political strength lies not in official positions but in deep-rooted trust and broad community support.
Reacting to the PDP’s claim that his defection is of little consequence, the BSquare Group argued that the people of Ogbomoso North are in a better position to judge the impact of his contributions.
“History will remember DSO not for titles held, but for the value he brought to the party and his community. His departure is not just a personal decision—it is a strong signal that the PDP is alienating its most loyal stakeholders.”
The group concluded by urging the PDP to engage in serious introspection rather than indulging in “revisionist propaganda and name-calling.”
“If the party is as unbothered as it claims, let it demonstrate that by addressing the legitimate grievances fueling discontent and the steady exodus of committed members,” the statement added.
