No fewer than eight persons have been confirmed dead while four others suffered variying degrees of injuries in a road crash along Oyo/Ogbomoso road Tuesday night.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday at the front of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo-ogbomoso expressway, Oyo township.
The survivors, as reliably informed, are receiving medical attention at the State Hospital in Oyo.
Speciak adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Fire Service Reform/Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, confirmed the incident.
Akinwande in a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo News affirmed that the agency officer led by PFS II Makinde, promptly responded and deployed to the scene of the incident.
According to him, it was eighteen (18) passengers Mazdas Bus with registration number GWL 687 XB (KANO) swerved and hit a stationed Howo trailer with registration number (LAGOS) LSR 340 XW from the rear and the trailer caught fire.
Akinwande further reiterated that the incident was as a result of over speeding, careless parking of heavy trucks along the highway.
Also, the corpses of the victims have been deposited in the morgue of the same hospital.
It was gathered that 18 passengers were involved in the accident out of which eight died, four were critically injured while the remaining ones suffered minor injuries
Akinwande further stated that the survivors was transferred to the hospital by the Federal Road Safety Corps, led by Mary Alo.
“Eight persons died while four people are receiving treatment at the state hospital in Oyo town.
“The corpses of the victims were also at the morgue of the same hospital,” he said.
