A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso and former Political Head of Ogbomoso Central LCDA, Hon. Adijat Oritoke Aremu, popularly known as Rainbow, has resigned from the party after 23 years of uninterrupted membership and service.
Hon. Aremu, who hails from Oderuogun’s Compound in Osupa area of Ogbomoso, formally tendered her resignation in a letter dated November 28, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of PDP, Osupa Ward 09, Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, Oyo State.
In the letter, she recalled joining the PDP in 2002 under the leadership of late former governor, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, having followed him from the then All Peoples Party (APP) during the build-up to the 2003 general elections.
She noted that her 23-year sojourn in the PDP was marked by active contributions to the party’s growth and development at the ward, local and state levels.
Hon. Aremu served in several positions, including Osupa Ward Delegate (from 2002), Ward Financial Secretary, Member of the Local Government Party Working Committee, and Local Government Women Leader.
Beyond party roles, she also held multiple public offices: Special Adviser to the Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Member of the Caretaker Committee overseeing Women Affairs and Community Development, Secretary to the Local Government, Vice Chairman of Ogbomoso North LGA, and Political Head of Ogbomoso Central LCDA, Oja-Igbo.
While expressing gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities granted her over the years, Aremu said her decision to exit the party followed deep reflection.
According to her, she is aligning politically with her long-time leader, Distinguished Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola (Hallelujah), by joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contribute to the actualisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda for the advancement of Oyo State and Nigeria.
She appealed to the PDP leadership to accept her resignation in good faith, describing the move as a step taken in the best interest of service and development.
Also in a statement obtained by journalists, Hon. Aremu hinted that the decision which culmunated in her formal resignation from the party was well agreed on by her teeming assiciates and followers across the five local government areas of Ogbomoso zone.
“You see, we have played our part in the growth and development of the party. The gale of defections from the PDP is not unexpected, though.
“I have consistently served the PDP in the last 23 years without any iota of anti-party blemish whatsoever. Even when the party was to sink following the exit of late Otunba Alao-Akala, I, together with some notable leaders in our zone took the bull by the horn and rescued the party from capsising into doom.
“Together with my associates and my followers, we have decided to align with our very astute leader, distinguished Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola Hallelujah in the All Progresssives Congress (APC). We, his followers, so much cherish his leadership of exemplary service to humanity and followership,” said Hon. Aremu.
