Another prominent political figure in Ogbomoso, Hon. Bayo Akinyode, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending his two-decade-long membership of the party.
In a letter dated Thursday, November 27, 2025 as obtained by Pan-Nigerian News (pannigeeiannews.com), Hon. Akinyode announced his resignation effective November 27, 2025.
Hon. Akinyode, a philanthropist, seasoned technocrat and politician from Ashipa’s Compound in Osupa, Ogbomoso North, said his decision was driven by the PDP’s “lack of direction, internal cohesion and strategic focus,” describing the party as “a sinking ship that no longer inspires confidence.”
Born in Minna, Niger State, Hon. Akinyode hails from Asipa in Osupa Ward of Ogbomoso North Local Government Area.
He is a graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (B.Tech) and holds an MBA from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso. He is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at the Rome Business School.
Hon. Akinyode’s political journey spans nearly 20 years in the PDP, during which he played key roles at both state and national campaign levels.
He served as campaign consultant to former Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu during the 2007 and 2011 elections, and also worked as Personal Assistant to Hon. Umar Nasko, who served as Commissioner and Chief of Staff to the Niger State Governor between 2007 and 2015.
He later headed campaign logistics for the PDP governorship candidate in Niger State during the 2019 general elections.
In 2021, Akinyode formally transferred his membership to Ogbomoso North in a well-attended public ceremony after which he contested the 2023 primary election for a seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly under the PDP and also participated in various primary elections for the State Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship positions.
He also participated in mobilisations and election campaigns for the PDP (local government elections) in 2021 and general elections of 2023 in Ogbomosho North, especially in engaging the Hausa Community.
Beyond politics, Hon. Akinyode is a businessman, project manager and marketing communications practitioner.
He is the Managing Partner of Global Brand Resources Ltd, a firm with offices in Abuja and Lagos, specialising in construction, supply chains and integrated marketing communications.
