Today is a beautiful day. Beautiful because Hon. Segun Odebunmi marks his 57th birthday and the people of Ogbomosoland, Oyo State and Nigeria at large join family, friends and associates to celebrate the distinguished leader whose life has been defined by service, integrity and human development. Odebunmi is the Okanlomo of Ogbomosoland. He has, over the years, earned respect and admiration through purposeful leadership and selfless contributions to society. His political journey is one marked by responsibility, influence and results.
As a former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values, he played a pivotal role in promoting national consciousness, ethical rebirth and effective communication between government and the people.
Beyond legislative duties, Hon. Odebunmi has remained a consistent advocate for grassroots development. His tenure in public office has been impactful, especially in the areas of youth empowerment, women empowerment and support for the vulnerable. Through various initiatives, he has facilitated job opportunities for youths, helping many young people find purpose, dignity and economic stability.
Currently, as the Chairman of the Ogun–Osun River Basin Development Authority, Hon. Odebunmi continues to contribute to national development, particularly in the critical areas of water resources management, agriculture and rural development. His leadership at the authority reflects his vision for food security, sustainable agriculture and economic growth.
His political experience is rich and diverse. He has served in several strategic capacities, including as Chairman of Surulere Local Government Area, where his people-oriented leadership left lasting impressions. More recently, he served as the Central Committee Chairman of the Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival, a culturally significant event that celebrated the heritage, unity and creative spirit of Ogbomosoland.
Outside politics, Hon. Segun Odebunmi is a successful oil and gas businessman and farmer, demonstrating his belief in entrepreneurship, hard work and economic diversification. His ventures have not only contributed to the economy but have also created employment opportunities and inspired many aspiring entrepreneurs.
At 57, Hon. Segun Odebunmi stands tall as a bridge between tradition and modern leadership, an accomplished statesman, community leader, philanthropist and role model.
As he adds another ring to his age, we wish the Okanlomo of Ogbomosoland many more years in good health, wisdom and strength. May his days be filled with peace, joy and renewed energy to continue serving humanity. May his leadership light continue to shine brighter, and may his legacy of service, empowerment and development endure for generations to come.
