The Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, has condoled the victims of the recent bandit attack in Oriire local government area of the state.
The attack, which occurred Tuesday night, resulted in the tragic loss of at least five National Park Service personnel stationed at the Oloka office of the Old Oyo National Park, leaving the community in mourning.
This is as he urged the National Assembly to expedite action in passing the law on the creation of state police to enhance the security architecture in the country.
In a statement Thursday, Adedoyin condemned the attack describing it as barbaric and heartbreaking.
He expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for those injured.
“It was with deep shock that I learned of the bandit attack in Oriire Local Government Area. I extend my condolences to the victims, the families who lost loved ones, and the entire Oriire community. I share in your pain; this attack is both unfortunate and heartbreaking,” Adedoyin stated.
Representing Ogbomoso South state constituency, Adedoyin also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his prompt response to the incident and his commitment to enhancing security in Ogbomoso zone.
He emphasized the need for a collaborative, society-wide approach to address the escalating insecurity across Nigeria.
He equally reiterated that the state House of Assembly would not hesitate to amend and strengthen all laws that have to do with security and well being of Oyo state people and calling on National Assembly to put necessary measures in place in order to make the issue of state police a reality in order to give the governors effective control of their domains.
He concluded by expressing hope for the restoration of peace in Nigeria and urging both federal and state governments to continue prioritizing the safety and security of the populace.
