The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) is set to formally inaugurate a chapter at the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, following the successful groundwork laid towards the establishment of the union in the institution.
In a notice addressed to the Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, the ASUP Coordinator of Zone C, Comrade Adekunle Nurudeen Masopa, commended the management of the institution for its cooperation and support in facilitating the formation of the ASUP Federal Polytechnic Ayede chapter.
As part of activities leading to the formal inauguration of the chapter, the union has scheduled a four-day, 3-in-1 programme comprising orientation, election, and inauguration exercises.
According to the outlined programme, the ASUP Zonal Team will arrive at the institution on Tuesday, 3rd February, 2026.
This will be followed by an orientation programme for members on Wednesday, 4th February, 2026.
The election of chapter officers and their formal inauguration will take place on Thursday, 5th February, 2026, after which the Zonal Team is expected to depart on Friday, 6th February, 2026.
To ensure the conduct of a free, fair, credible, and acceptable election, the ASUP leadership has formally requested the constitution of a five-member Electoral Committee to oversee the electoral process.
The union also noted that the Zonal Coordinator is available for further clarification on any aspect of the programme, if required.
The union, in the notice, expressed its assurances of the warm regards and appreciation to the management of the Federal Polytechnic Ayede for its continued collaboration.
