The Khalifa of the Islamic Brotherhood of Nigeria (ISBON), Alhaji Lamidi Monsur Ayoade Ejide, has called for unity and harmonious coexistence among residents of Ogbomoso as Muslims and Christians commence the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
Alhaji Ejide made the call on Thursday while speaking with Pan-Nigerian News from Saudi Arabia, where he congratulated adherents of both faiths on witnessing the sacred periods.
Describing Ramadan and Lent as significant moments in the spiritual calendar of Muslims and Christians respectively, the Islamic leader said the observances should foster unity of purpose, harmonious relationships and renewed commitment towards the development of Ogbomosoland.
According to him, the twin seasons of fasting and prayer offer a solemn opportunity for self-reflection, devotion, and rededication to righteous living, which are essential ingredients for societal progress.
“These sacred periods should strengthen our bond as a people. Beyond personal spirituality, Ramadan and Lent must inspire unity of purpose, harmonious relationships and collective commitment to the growth and development of Ogbomosoland,” he said.
Alhaji Ejide urged the faithful to use the periods to pray for peace, economic stability and sustainable progress in the land, stressing that meaningful development can only thrive in an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation.
He further congratulated traditional rulers, religious leaders, and the good people of Ogbomoso for witnessing the Holy Seasons, encouraging them to continue promoting interfaith harmony and supporting initiatives that will uplift the youth and advance the overall wellbeing of the community.
The ISBON Khalifa expressed optimism that with sustained prayers and collective effort, Ogbomosoland would witness greater unity, stability and prosperity.
