Imbibe true essence of Eid-El-Kabir, ex-Reps leader, Akande-Adeola, charges Muslims

A former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola, has charged Muslim faithful to reflect on and imbibe the true essence of Eid-el-Kabir festival.

Hon. Akande-Adeola, who is the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) senatorial candidate for Oyo North in the 2023 general election, noted that the survival of the Nigerian entity would be enhanced through love, kindness, peace, and sacrifice.

In a statement released by her media office in Ogbomoso on Saturday, Hon. Akande-Adeola, popularly called Obinrin Rere, enjoined Muslims to imbibe the spirit of love and sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

The release also charged women folk generally to be partners in the project of rebuilding Nigeria, adding that women should assume thier rightful positions in the political activities in the country.

The statement read in part: “I, on this day, congratulate our dear Muslim faithful across the world and particularly in Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun, Oyo State and Nigeria on this year’s Eidel-el-Kabir festival. It is a privilege bestowed on us all to be alive to celebrate.

“I am not unmindful of the current challenges bedeveling our nation. In all of this, notwithstanding, Muslim faithful and, even, Christians and traditionalists should demonstrate love, kindness, sacrifice and embrace peace. These, I believe, will go a long way in building a virile country.”

The first female House of Representatives leader who hailed from Ogbomoso, added, “Women are expected to play pivotal role in politics and that they should draw back from politics.

“I, therefore, urge ladies and women who are of age to participate in the coming elections more than ever before. We, the women, are known to caring, loving, kind and sacrificial both in our families and the larger society.”
