APC guber aspirant, Sen. Buhari, empowers Oyo State residents with N5bn support scheme

Thousands of residents across Oyo State have benefited from a multi-billion-naira empowerment programme facilitated by Senator Fatai Omotayo Buhari, representing Oyo North Senatorial District.
The initiative, valued at over N5 billion, was unveiled during the “Renewed BAFHOPE Mega Empowerment Programme and Constituency Briefing” held at Soun Stadium, Ogbomoso, drawing a large crowd of political leaders, traditional rulers, artisans, traders, students, and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Senator Buhari urged residents of Oyo State and Nigerians at large to sustain support for the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu beyond 2027, expressing optimism that ongoing reforms would yield positive outcomes for citizens.
The programme, now in its fifth edition and organised under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, featured the distribution of various items including 200 motorcycles, 500 sewing machines, 500 grinding machines, 150 deep freezers, 100 generators, and 40 cars, alongside cash grants to beneficiaries.
Buhari described the initiative as part of his commitment to grassroots development, noting that economic empowerment remains a critical tool for reducing unemployment and stimulating local economies.
“This intervention is designed to improve livelihoods, support small businesses, and create sustainable economic opportunities for our people,” he said.
The lawmaker, who chairs the Senate Committee on Aviation and Aerospace Development, was widely commended by attendees, who described the programme as one of the largest constituency interventions in the state.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, describing the support as impactful and life-changing.
Many noted that the items and financial assistance would significantly boost their businesses and household incomes.
Some political supporters at the event also called on the senator to contest the Oyo State governorship seat in 2027, citing his grassroots engagement and empowerment initiatives as evidence of his leadership capacity.
The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, represented by the Soun-in-Council as headed by the Are-Ago of Ogbomoso, High S. S. Otolorin, conmended the efforts of Sen. Buhari.
The Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, praised Buhari’s commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
“It is obvious that he loves the people of Oyo North, and this is commendable. It is beyond my expectation,” the monarch said, offering prayers for the senator’s continued success.
Those at the event, were, among others, key APC stakeholders, youth groups, women organisations, and community leaders from across Oyo North Senatorial District.
