The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Dr. Isiaka Tunji Adelabu, has congratulated Dr. Samuel Oke Ogunniyi on his appointment as the substantive University Librarian of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.
Dr. Ogunniyi, an Associate Professor and seasoned librarian, has been appointed for a five-year tenure commencing in November 2026.
In a statement issued by the acting Director, Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations (CICPR) of the Polytechnic, Mr. Sunday Adepoju, Dr. Adelabu described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Dr. Ogunniyi’s professional competence, academic accomplishments and contributions to the library profession.
The Rector particularly commended Dr. Ogunniyi for his pioneering role as the first Polytechnic Librarian of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, noting that his contributions laid an important foundation for the development of the institution’s library services and academic information resources.
Dr. Adelabu said Dr. Ogunniyi brought his wealth of experience, professionalism and commitment to bear during his time at the Polytechnic, contributing to the growth of the institution at a crucial stage of its development.
He expressed confidence that Dr. Ogunniyi would bring the same dedication, expertise and leadership to his new responsibility at Adekunle Ajasin University.
He wished the new University Librarian a successful and impactful tenure, assuring him of the goodwill and best wishes of the management, staff and entire Polytechnic community.
Dr. Ogunniyi, who rose to the rank of Associate Professor at Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, has over three decades of experience spanning public service, librarianship, teaching, research and administration.
He is also the Chairman of the Ondo State Chapter of the Nigerian Library Association.
