The 24th installation anniversary of Onpetu of Ijeru Kingdom, Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran Lagbami Osekun III is being celebrated in a grand style to the service of God, beginning from today till Saturday.
Today, the palace of the first class monarch played host to men of God from all walks of life led by a world renowned Evangelist, Presiding Bishop and General Overseer, Christ Faith Tabernacle International Churches, London, United Kingdom, Apostle Alfred T. B. Williams for the three-day Open Air Crusade to mark the 24th anniversary.
The three-day crusade with the theme “Unquenchable God” is slated to commence at 4:30 p.m. today and runs through Saturday at the ancient palace of Onpetu of Ijeru kingdom.
Speaking earlier today at a press briefing in Ijeru, Apostle Williams, who maintained that Ogbomoso is an ancestral home of valiants, said the crusade was on ministration of God as he left other crusades slated for early June for Ijeru kingdom in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria.
He stated, “When the wind blows, nobody knows where it goes. Jesus does not perform miracles without salvation. God, through Jesus, does wonders just to convince the unbelievers so that they can be saved and that is the only reason for miracles, signs and wonders.
“God is not happy when human beings are afflicted and I think the reason God brought Oba Oyediran, our king, is to save souls and it is rare to see Kings doing what he is doing here in ijeru.”
Apostle Williams said he was delighted the day he sighted Oba Oyediran in his church, abroad, adding that he was touched by God to organise a crusade in Ijeru kingdom.
He further explained that minds would be touched by hand of God during the crusade through the unquenchable fire of the Almighty God.
While condemning idolatry, Apostle Williams maintained, “My message for the idol worshipers in Ogbomoso and the world at large is that they should turn to God.
“This is stated in the Book of Isaiah 44:9. It is explicitly stated there that we must turn to God. Kings must turn to God. I have once led my people to a Forbidden Forest (Igbo Aiwo) in my state.”
Earlier, the host and the organiser, Oba Oyediran glorified the goodness of God over the crusade, noting that Ogbomoso is a source of evangelism and Christianity as the first Baptist seminary is in Ogbomoso.
Oba Onpetu maintained that he had planned since the first day of his installation as Onpetu on June 1,1999 to dedicate his installation anniversary every year to the service of God through an open crusade.
The monarch added that the crusade is to serve God and pray for liberation of his domain, Ijeru Kingdom, Ogbomoso and Oyo State in general.
“My reign as a king is to serve God and my people. I decided to dedicate my installation anniversary on every 1st of June to the service of the Lord and that is why we are starting this crusade today.
“I feel the palace must be liberated before we can talk about liberating the whole community. God brought the evangelists here and that is how God wanted it. If you want to serve people, you must serve God first,” Kabiesi added.
In her remark, earlier, Olori Subuola Oyediran appreciated Apostle Williams; his wife, Oma and entourage, saying “hopefully, the crusade will liberate large number of people in the area.”
The ministers at the press conference and expected to feature at the 3-day crusade included Revd Oma Williams from London, Pastor Anthony Aboaba, Dns Aboaba, Pastor Akintunde, Dn Kayode from London, Dn Dr Aina, Dr Odubonajo, Dn Michael Odiase, Pastor Francis Joshua from London, Pastor Dapo among other clerics and members of the church.
The press briefing was attended by Revd Dr Deji Adisa,Prophet Isaac Oni, Revd Gabriel Adedokun, Revd Idowu Fatunnbi and Revd Peter Olaleye, to mention a few.
