A scholar at the Departmemt of Mechanical Engineering, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Engr. Prof. Abiola Olufemi Ajayeoba, has been inaugurated as the Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Safety Engineers (NISafetyE).
At the event which held at General Gas, Kolapo Isola area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, eminent scholars and professionals in attendance included past chairmen of National of NISafetyE and the current national chairman, Engr. Oluseun Faluyi, a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers; a retired Don at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Engr. Prof. Lawson Olabosipo Adekoya, as the father of the day; Rev’d Canon Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service Agency as Guest Lecturer; Chairman of the Ogbomoso Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Prof. Samson Olakunle Ojoawo (FNSE).
Among other dignitaries were the immediate past Chairman of NISafetyE, Engr. Oladayo Awodele; the Governing Council Chairman of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, Engr Prof. Kazeem A. Adebiyi (FNSE); Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ibadan branch, Engr. Ibrahim Bello; Chief Justice Emeritus Badejoko Adeniji, Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) Ogbomoso chapter, Engr. Prof. L. O. Mudashiru; Assistant General Secretary of Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ogbomoso Branch, Engr. Dr. Moses O. Fajobi.
The event equally saw a number of new members inducted into the various cadres of the noble institution.
Similarly, various awards of excellence were presented to eminent personalities at the event.
Cultural troupe thrilled the participants at the event, thus making the event full of fun and merriment.
The NISE, a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), was established on February 11, 2016 by NSE Council approval. The effort was formally initiated with a meeting Engr. A. B. Emeasoba and Engr. Adéyemí B. Oyedepo (FNSE) which facilitated by the them NSE Deputy President, Otis Anyaeji (FNSE).
Interestingly, NSE approved the establishment of the division on February 11, 2016.
Engr. Faluyi congratulated the new Chairman and expressed confidence that the new Chairman’s experience and the support of others would continue the remarkable strides begun by past leaders.
