Members of Adepoju of Oginni dynasty, home and Diaspora, have given their matriarch and humanitarian, Madam Florence Monilola Adepoju, a befitting burial in Lagos.
The three-day event included songs of service at Egbapeju axis of Shogunle, Lagos; Christian wake at her residence in Alagbado, Lagos and final burial service at First Baptist Church, Shogunle, Lagos after which her remains were commited to mother earth in Agbado, Lagos.
In her sermon at the funeral service, Rev’d K. I. P. Opoola, who stressed that late Adepoju was a true child of God and follower of Christ, charged the children, family, and all to live a life that pleases God saying, “We are here witnessing this event which marks the funeral service in honour of Mama Adepoju.
“Part of the reasons God has not called us is to win souls for Christ. We must all follow that path of righteousness. We need God’s wisdom in our actions and only He can help us.”
The celebration of life of Late Madam Adepoju was greeted by testimonies of the exemplary life lived by the departed soul who, it was said, served the Lord diligently and faithfully.
Madam Adepoju, who aged 89 years, transited to the great beyond on Saturday, July 8, 2023 and was today buried after various services in her honour.
She was born in Ogbomoso on December 19, 1933 to Late Pa Ojeniyi Okunlola and Late Madam Rachael Abegbe Okunlola.
She had her elementary education in Ogbomoso. She had brief stint at the Baptist Hospital, Ogbomoso (now Bowen University Teaching Hospital) as a supervisor of the Motherless Babies Home from 1946 – 1948.
She got married to her hearthrob of Oginni dynasty in Ogbomoso, Late Gabriel Ishola Adeyanju Adepoju in 1953 and quest for greener pasture made her attend a fashion Institute where she learnt fashion designing.
In 1967, she set up her fashion Institute in Lagos.
She was, until her death, a staunch member of First Baptist Church, Shogunle, Lagos and member of Ice Kristi Society of the church.
Her husband died in 1976, about 47 years, when she was 42 years of age.
Among other foster children, grandchildren and extended families, she is survived by Gbadebo Adepoju, Babatunde Adepoju, Adeola Adepoju,, Funke Ajisafe and Ronke Adepoju.
