The rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Ogbomoso, Dr Taofeeq Abdul-Hameed, has solicited the support of all and sundry in positioning the institution as a cynosure in the world of global technical education providers.
He stated this while addressing journalists at a programme organised by Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Ogbomoso branch recently.
Speaking after the event which held at Ogbomoso Central Mosque, Ojaagbo, Ogbomoso, Dr Abdul-Hameed called on organisations, groups, philanthropists and other stakeholders within Ogbomoso and the world at large to be part of the institution’s journey to greatness by contributing in diverse areas of its needs as a new institution.
The institution is one of the 12 polytechnics and colleges of education established by President Muhamnadu Buhari in February 2021.
The rector, who noted that capital projects’ donations, among others, are welcome from individuals and organisations, said: “It is a thing of joy that the Federal Government has established this great institution in our communities here.
“This institution will positively affect the economy of the communities here and even the state. Therefore, all hands should be on deck to make the institution a cynosure and zenith of academic excellence in the nearest future.
“May I tell organisations, groups, philanthropists and other stakeholders that the success of this new institution is a collective responsibility of all.
“We are, however, not taking those who have been contributing for granted. We want more because the success of Federal Polytechnic, Ayede is scrosanct.”
He also enjoined the participants, especially the staff of the institution, at the event never to allow their religion to hinder their service delivery but rather improve their dutifulness, fair dealing and justice in discharging their duties.
He emphasised that Muslim and Christians should be synonymous to industry, commitment and competence at work.
“For instance, Islam is not tolerant of indolence or laziness because one’s earnings must be justified before Allah will bless it and this is lawful.”
