Organisers of the Imole Day 2026 Awards have extended voting for the honourary awards category to midnight on Wednesday following a technical glitch, while unveiling two award categories for this year’s edition.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to hold on Sunday, October 25, at Henliah Event Centre, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The Convener of the Imole Day Awards and Chief Executive Officer of Imole Media House, Dr. Josiah Abiola Adebayo, disclosed this at a press conference held at the media house in Ogbomoso on Thursday.
Adebayo said the two categories were honorary doctorate awards and honorary awards. He explained that the honorary doctorate awards would be presented to notable personalities selected by the board in conjunction with Christ Proclaimer Theological Seminary, affiliated with Faith University, USA.
He said the recipients would be recognised for their contributions to society, business, politics, ministry, education and community development.
According to him, the honorary awards category was open to public nominations and voting to encourage participation and promote transparency.
Adebayo said nominees must secure at least 100 votes to qualify for an award plaque, while those who receive 500 votes would qualify for special prizes, including television sets, fans, generators and other household appliances.
Addressing concerns about the credibility of the process, he said no winner had been pre-selected and that the organisers had no preferred candidate.
He attributed the extension of voting to a technical glitch and said the organisers had apologised for the development.
Adebayo described Imole Day as an annual celebration of impact, light and excellence, established to honour individuals making notable contributions in their fields and communities.
He added that, as part of its corporate social responsibility, Imole Media House organises an annual three-month mega training programme to equip young people with skills in media, vocational studies and musical instruments.
The convener, who is celebrating 29 years in ministry, said his vision had expanded into the entertainment industry, which he described as a platform for celebrating excellence, inspiring young people and promoting cultural values.
He also announced Mr Ayomide Stephen Damilare, popularly known as VJ Sados, as the official event planner and project coordinator for the 2026 edition. Damilare will oversee the event’s planning, logistics and coordination.
Activities scheduled for the event include the conferment of doctorate awards, presentation of honorary awards, live juju band performances, gospel ministrations, comedy, music entertainment and special prize giveaways.
Adebayo invited members of the press, nominees and well-wishers to attend the event at Henliah Event Centre, Ogbomoso, on October 25.
