A 38-year-old man, Gabriel Tosin, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a bag containing title document of land and other valuables
Tosin, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Kokoye, told the court that Tosin allegedly committed the crime on Aug. 9 at the Iyana-Ipaja area of the state.
According to Kokoye, the defendant stole a bag containing title document of land valued at N485,000, property of one Bamidele Tolulope.
He also said that the defendant thereafter, conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by dropping the bag containing the documents.
According to Kokoye, the offences contravened Sections 280 (1)(a), 287 and 168 (1)(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs S. O. Obasa, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N80,000 with two responsible sureties.
Obasa said that the sureties must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government for the preceding two years.
The magistrate, thereafter, adjourned the matter until Sept. 27 for mention.
