Federal Polytechnic Ayede in Ogbomoso zone of Oyo State has congratulated the 21st Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, on his coronation and presentation of the instruments of office by the Oyo State government led Engr Seyi Makinde.
The grand finale of the week long event is scheduled for today at the Soun Stadium, Stadium area, Ogbomoso.
Speaking on behalf of the institution’s management, the Rector, Dr Taofeek Abdul-Hameed, also called on the people of Ogbomosoland and beyond, including those in the Diaspora, to join hands with Oba Olaoye to move the zone to a high pedestal of El Dorado.
Pannigeriannews.com reports that the appointment of Oba Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbmosoland was, in September, approved by the Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde and was installed as the 21st Soun Ogbomosoland.
While rejoicing with the traditional ruler, the entire Soun royal families, Laoye royal family and entire Ogbomoso communities, Dr Abdul-Hameed advised the people of Ogbomoso to cooperate, support and pray for the new king and Ogbomoso with a view to bringing more developments to Ogbomoso and its environs.
Dr Abdul-Hameed stated this in a statement by the institution’s Protocols and Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Adepoju, issued in Ogbomoso on Tuesday.
The statement read in part, “I feel highly elated to congratulate our royal father and heroic personality on his triumphant ascension to the exalted throne of his forefathers, the stool of Soun of Ogbomoso.
“So, on behalf of the Principal Officers, Management, Staff, Students and the entire Polytechnic Community, we pray for the success of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orimogege III, as the new Soun. His reign will, by the grace of God, usher in unprecedented development, peace, progress and unity in Ogbomoso.”
The statement further charged all indigenes of Ogbomoso and its environs as well as those in the Diaspora to support the fresh air that has heralded the city of Ogbomoso since the Kabiesi’s ascension.
The statement which calls on the political class and philanthropists to prioritise the development of Ogbomoso as number one also read: “I want to really commend the contributions of the political class and philanthropists so far on the development of Ogbomoso and our institution.
“Like Oliver Twist, more are still expected in order to put Ogbomoso as a cynosure of great development in and around Nigeria.
“I wish to add that the place of prayer cannot be underestimated and I wish to pray that Almighty God will equip Oba Olaoye with the wisdom needed to pilot the affairs of the communities in Ogbomoso and beyond.
“Let all Christians, Muslims and traditional worshippers be committed to praying for the king to succed in his transformation agenda.”
Dr Abdul-Hameed, who also lauded the significant contributions of some sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland towards the development of the institution, commended the hispitable nature of the people of Ogbomoso, ever since it was established by the Federal Government.
He stated that the names of the supportive individuals and groups that have rendered assistance to the Polytechnic are too many in different ways.
“God bless His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III; God bless Ogbomosoland; God bless Oyo State; God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Dr Abdul-Hameed said.
