As Muslims across the world celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege 111, has congratulated Islamic faithful globally on the occasion.
In a statement by the palace secretary, Mr. Toyin Ajamu, the Oba Olaoye said, “Congratulations to all Muslim faithful around the world, especially those in Ogbomosoland for the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitri which marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan where you people have dedicated yourselves to prayer, fasting and acts of charity.”
Observing Eid Fitri is not only a celebration of faith, the monarch stated, it is a “time to come together as a community, reinforcing the bonds of unity, love, and compassion that define our shared values. It is a moment to express gratitude for the blessings received and to remember the less fortunate in the community.”
While urging the Muslims to imbibe the lessons learned during the period and to allow such to continue to manifest in their lives, the monarch said, “There are lots of lessons learned during this period of Ramadan which include self discipline, empathy and compassion, gratitude, spiritual reflection and self improvement, unity, resilience and patience, and reflection on divine guidance. It is important not to forget these lessons learned as they promote personal, social, and spiritual transformation, leading to a more compassionate, grateful and mindful way of living.”
