The National Sports Commission (NSC) said it is set to hold an important meeting with the presidents and secretaries of various sports federations in Nigeria.
According to the Chairman and Director-General of the NSC, Mallam Shehu Dikko and Honourable Bukola Olopade respectively, the meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, aims to further discuss strategic objectives for advancing sports development across Nigeria.
The Special Assistant on Media, Office of the Director-General at the NSC, Mr. Kola Daniel, said the gathering is part of the commission’s commitment to fulfilling the core goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda for sports development.
The gathering, according to him, is expected to serve as a platform for key stakeholders to align their efforts and drive sustainable growth in the sports sector.
Mallam Dikko, in the statement, emphasized the essential role of sports federations in boosting the nation’s sports economy.
“Sports federations are key players in the nation’s sports economic drive and must assume their role with a drive for success,” Dikko said.
Olopade also underscored the need for innovation and creativity in sports administration.
According to him, “Innovation and creativity are important elements that should constitute sports administration in Nigeria across the board for the nation to truly see positive changes in the sports industry. We want to align our efforts and ensure we are all chasing a common goal from different areas.”
Amongst other areas, the meeting will focus on fostering collaboration, improving accountability, and enhancing the operational efficiency of sports federations, to drive sports development and boost the sector’s economy.
The NSC leadership restated its committment to promoting a results-driven approach to sports administration, with the ultimate goal of elevating Nigeria’s status on the global sports stage.
