The Babalaje of Ogbomosoland and Special Adviser to former Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Chief Muftaw Open Salawu, has finally dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He stated that the creditable performance of the state governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, was a motivation for his decision to join the PDP.
In a statement made available to PanNigerian News on Saturday, Chief Salawu, a business tycoon and philanthropist, noted that his defection to the party is attributed to political interest, pursuit of political ambition, political ideology and agenda.
Salawu had, earlier, resigned his membership of the APC on the ground of lack of transparency in the party, adding that he was still consulting on his next poitical move.
The statement reads: “Friends and associates, after two weeks of consultation, I hereby declare to join the PDP.
“My reasons for political defection is attributed to political interest, pursuit of political ambition, political ideology and agenda.
“Every person is entitled to assemble freely and associate with other persons, and in particular he may form or belong to any political party and association in the protection of his interests.
“Interestingly, my choice of PDP is not far to be fetched from the attention and opportunities the government of His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde, is providing for young and vibrant people of our dear state in contributing to the development of Oyo state.”
Adding to this, Salawu, “Sole ownership of LAUTECH and creation of more faculties will tremendously increase the intake of the school and economic benefits of Oyo State and Ogbomoso in particular. The on-going Ogbomoso/ iseyin Road is a blessing not only to the communal uses but the farmers along the axis that now has hope of getting their products to urban markets for value chain.”
He, therefore, urged his teeming suprters to support Makinde-led government.
“I urge my supporters throughout Oyo State to join hands in supporting this government of Engr Seyi Makinde in developing the state beyond 2023,” he stated.
