A new General Overseer (G.O.) has been appointed for the Jesus is Coming Back Evangelistic Ministry (JICBEM), Gambari, Ogbomoso, Oyo state, which superintends Ori-Oke Olorunsogo, Orile-Igbon.
He is Pastor Gideon Olawumi Oyewole, son of the late founder and G.O., Prophet Joseph Oladunni Oyewole, who died on August 30, 2023
The new General Overseer was ordained and anointed Saturday (August 30 exactly two years after the transition of his father) at the ministry’s headquarters at Gambari in a programme attended by church members and many men of God, including Prophet Isaac Ogunmodede Oni (CPPEM Sanctuary of Mercy Ogbomoso), Pastor Aremu Samuel Olutayo (president, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Ogbomoso), Prophet Morakinyo Oyatumo (Good News Prayer & Deliverance Ministry, Igbo-Ile Ogbomoso), Apostle Moses Olawale Olaniyi (Christ Purpose Pentecostal Church Ilorin) among others.
The new G.O. studied at the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH Ogbomoso, and University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom where he studied Finance and Management. He also bagged MBA at the University of Ambai, United States of America (a free international virtual teaching institution).
This is, however, the first time he will be in the ministry. He is the second surviving child of late Prophet Oyewole.
In his exhortation, Apostle Moses Olaniyi urged church founders and leaders to always choose their successors before their transition to avoid crisis after their departure.
Prophet Isaac Oni revealed that Pastor Gideon Oyewole was chosen by his father popularly called Baba Ori-Oke Igbon before his demise but that the deceased instructed the process for the anointment not commence until after a year after his transition.
“I was a son in the Lord to Baba Ori-Oke Igbon. He sent for me before he died, l went and met him with all the children and Mama but asked we go to another room myself and him,” Prophet Oni recalled. “He told me his time was nigh and that he had a very important instruction for me regarding his successor.
“He however said work should not commence on it until after a year of his death, that is why we waited. When the time came l invited elders in the vineyard and Baba’s lawyer to relay the message to them. I also said if anyone received any message from Baba he should see his lawyer so that it won’t be like Baba spoke to me under the duress of sickness.
“But after two months l contacted the lawyer and he said no one came to him. I now informed him of what Baba told me with evidence. So, Pastor Gideon is the choice of Baba and God.”
Further during an interview with ogbomosoinsightonline.com, Prophet Oni submitted, “l see the man (Pastor Gideon) as a child of God; he is humble, respectful and is ready to take on the ministerial work.”
He noted though he might not be actively involved in the ministry previously as a cleric but that “Baba addressed him as ‘Pastor.’ We didn’t see that but he did and knew he is a pastor. I asked, ‘Baba you wrote Pastor and why didn’t you anoint him?’ He retorted he had been anointed from the womb. After l am gone go and anoint him.”
The man of God enjoined the church to cooperate with “the Lord and the guidelines laid out by Baba.”
He also urged the new G.O. to see himself as “a servant and not the leader.”
In an interview with ogbomosoinsightonline.com also, Pastor Gideon disclosed he never dreamt or nursed the thought of becoming a pastor not to talk of leading the ministry.
His interest from time, he revealed, lays in song ministration, “singing or sight of musical instruments always excite me,” he submitted. “But l accept what has happened as the will of God, it is not something I desire so it is God’s will and l am confident God will do His work through me,” he said, as he implored all to “embrace peace, love and cooperation.”
Apostle Olawale also in a chat advised him to be a “prayer person, be verse in the Bible and always be available.” He further charged him to be “wary of women and food and pray to be granted the spirit of discernment to spot enemies who pretend as friends.”
In her own, mother of the new G.O. Mama Mary Oyewole affirmed ”Pastor Gideon was chosen by God, if not, Baba (his late husband) would not have picked him. Baba did not tell me but told servants of God and that the inauguration should not hold until after a year of his passage.”
She informed her son initially balked at the prospect but he knew he could not reject his father’s instruction, “I pray God will back him and make him excel even beyond his father’s reach. His father’s ministerial journey was trailed by glory, l pray his will be be greater.”
