
The management team of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO) has expressed profound gratitude to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation and Aerospace Development, Senator Abdul-Fatai Omotayo Buhari, for his instrumental role in the establishment of the institution.
Led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Senator at his office in Abuja. During the visit, the team presented an official letter of appreciation on behalf of the University.
In his remarks, Professor Babayemi lauded Senator Buhari’s unwavering commitment to the development of the Oke-Ogun region, stating that the Senator played a major role, estimated at 80 to 90%, in the process leading to the University’s establishment.
“We are here to thank you. and the entire Oke-Ogun region cannot thank you enough. Your role in the establishment of this University cannot be overstated. This region has long suffered from the absence of federal presence and we are grateful for your efforts. We also seek your continued support as we grow the University,” said Professor Babayemi.
Whuke responding, Senator Buhari expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa; Professor Segun Gbadesin, the Asiwaju of Okeho, for their respective contributions to the successful realisation of the University project.
Buhari emphasised the need for the University’s leadership to remain focused, urging them to view their appointments as both a national duty and a rare opportunity to write their names in gold.
“The establishment of FUNATO is a collective achievement. I urge the management to uphold excellence and work towards positioning the University as a world-class institution,” he stated.
Accompanying the Vice-Chancellor were key members of the University’s management: Mr. Aminu Muhammad Olayinka, Registrar; Prince Kazeem Popoola, Bursar; Dr. Adigun Abdulganiyu, University Librarian.
Also present was Alhaji Adedeji Adewale, an Abuja-based philanthropist and native of Saki.
