Fed Poly Ayede’s Agricultural Technology Department boosts campus beautification with tree planting initiative

The Department of Agricultural Technology, Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Ogbomoso has intensified the institution’s campus beautification and environmental sustainability drive through a tree-planting exercise across its temporary and permanent campuses.
The initiative, led by the acting Head of the Department, Dr. Mrs. Temitope Sarah Akinde, Pan-Nigerian News learnt, is aimed at strengthening the beautification programme introduced by the acting Rector, Engr. Dr. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, at the institution’s temporary campuses in Iresa-Pupa, National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Permanent Site in Ayede.
Speaking on the exercise, Dr. Akinde explained that tree planting is an annual activity of the Department, held every June 5 to commemorate the World Environment Day, in line with global efforts to promote environmental conservation and nature regeneration.
Akinde noted that this year’s exercise commenced at the Iresa-Pupa Temporary Site, where the acting Rector, Principal Officers and other stakeholders each planted a tree as a demonstration of the institution’s commitment to a greener and healthier environment.
“The exercise was later extended to the NDE campus at Onipaanu, where staff and students of the Department cleared and cultivated portions of land along the entrance of the campus before planting melina and palm trees at appropriate spacing to enhance the landscape and create an attractive environment for visitors,” she said.
Dr. Akinde appreciated the acting Rector, Engr. Dr. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, and the acting Dean of the School of Agricultural Technology, Mr. Bashir Olufihan Bello, for their support and commitment to the success of the initiative.
She also commended members of staff and students of the Department for their active participation, describing the tree-planting exercise as a practical contribution to environmental protection, campus beautification and sustainable development.
