A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso South, Prince Felix Akande, has officially resigned his membership from the party.
In the letter, Akande cited deep-seated internal crises and unresolved differences as a reason for his action.
In a resignation letter dated April 7, 2026, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of Ijeru Ward 5, Ogbomoso South LGA, Akande announced his immediate exit from the PDP.
He stated that his decision followed “protracted and irreconcilable differences” within the party.
According to him, the situation within the PDP had “degenerated further and further into a quagmire of confusion,” making it untenable for him to continue his association with the party.
Akande, however, expressed goodwill towards the party leadership and members, wishing them success in their future political engagements.
Copies of the resignation letter were also forwarded to key party stakeholders, including the PDP Chairman in Ogbomoso South Local Government, the Executive Chairman of the council, and the Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
His resignation adds to the growing wave of political realignments in Ogbomoso and Oyo State at large, as stakeholders begin early positioning ahead of future electoral contests.
Political observers believe the development could have implications for the PDP’s grassroots structure in Ogbomoso South, especially if it triggers further defections or shifts in allegiance within the ward and local government.
