Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, has commenced a TETFund-Sponsored Skills Acquisition Training Programme, through Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET)covering ten technical and vocational areas, including Phone Repair and Maintenance, Culinary and Food-Handling, Fashion Designing and Garment Production, Block Making and Concrete Technology, Soap and Detergent Production, Bags and Leather Goods Production, Computer Hardware Repairs, Satellite Installation, Hair Dressing, and Welding and Fabrication.
The programme, deliberately structured around equipment familiarisation, safety preparation, online mastery assessment and supervised practical training, with participants expected to understand the tools, risks and quality standards associated with their chosen areas before progressing fully into hands-on work, held at the Iresa-Pupa temporary site of the institution.
In his opening address, the Rector Dr. Isiaka Tunji Adelabu represented by former acting Rector, Engr.Dr.Temilola Morufat Adepoju, on behalf of the Governing Council Chairman, Hon.Yakubu Dati, the Rector, other principal officers, Deans, Directors, HODs, Staff and students of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, welcomed all the participants to the first TVET programmes for the staff and charged them to be committed to the training.
She stated that “the objective of the training is for each participant to go home with one or two skills and have extral certificate which will enable you to benefit from it.”
She also expressed gratitude to the former administration led by Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed for the solid foundation laid.
He expressed optimism that the good work would continue for the progress of this institution and declared the training open.
In his remark, the TVET Coordinator Engr.Oluwafemi Muhydeen Tijani welcomed all the participants to the training and advised them to use the opportunity to maximize their potential.
He said, “We all have potential to be Skillful, only looking for the opportunity, now here is the opportunity we have been looking for.”
The TVET Programme is expected to continue till Friday.
