A cleric, Revd Sunday Abiodun Ajibowu, has identified the failure of parents and guardians to adequately invest in the upbringing, education and future of their children as one of the factors contributing to moral decline and decay in society.
Ajibowu, who is the Pastor in charge of Ayo-Igbala Baptist Church, Jerry Awodoye Street, Randa area, Ogbomoso, said parents must recognise that the future of society largely depends on the values, guidance and opportunities they provide for their children.
He made the observation while delivering a sermon titled “Joy in Harvest” during the church’s annual harvest thanksgiving held on Sunday.
The cleric lamented that many parents had neglected their responsibility to invest adequately in the lives of their children, warning that such neglect could have far-reaching consequences for the individuals concerned and society at large.
He urged parents and guardians to sow positively into the lives of their children and wards through proper upbringing, education, moral instruction and other necessary support, noting that such investments would prepare them for a brighter future.
According to him, the future represents the harvest season of every human being, when the seeds sown through commitment, sacrifice and purposeful living begin to yield results.
He described the harvest period as a time of abundance, peace and merriment, stressing that parents who make the necessary sacrifices in raising their children stand a better chance of witnessing positive outcomes in their future.
Ajibowu also reminded Christians that God expects them to demonstrate grateful hearts, particularly through their actions and contributions to the well-being of others.
He therefore charged members of the congregation to extend support to the needy and contribute generously to the development of the church.
