The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Branch, Ogbomoso, will today honour prominent Ogbomoso businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Monsur Ayoade Ejide, for his contributions to staff welfare and the development of the university community.
Alhaji Ejide is to receive the association’s Iconic Distinguished Leadership in Business and Philanthropy Award at the maiden public lecture of SSANU-LAUTECH Branch, scheduled to hold at The Great Hall, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso.
According to Information issued by the association, the award recognises Ejide’s leadership in business, commitment to the welfare of university workers and contributions to promoting equity, justice and dignity within the university system.
The association said the recognition was also aimed at highlighting the role individuals and organisations could play in supporting institutions and improving the welfare of members of the university community beyond their primary business activities.
The public lecture, which is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., has as its theme: “Emerging Digital Transformation for the Advancement of Nigerian Universities through Innovative Funding Models: The Strategic Role of Key Stakeholders.”
The lecture is expected to bring together academics, university administrators, labour leaders, government representatives, business leaders, philanthropists and other stakeholders to discuss the changing digital landscape of Nigerian universities and possible approaches to sustainable funding.
The organisers are also expected to examine the responsibilities of government, university authorities, staff unions, private-sector organisations and other stakeholders in driving innovation and strengthening the university system.
