Beyond regular flavour, Minkail Olaitan releases Sophomore Poetry Book, ‘All Arrant Verses’

A Nigerian writer, Minkail Olaitan, has, again, hit the literary scene with a collection of his sophomore poetry collection entitled “All Arrant Verses,” the collection that many readers described poignant, soulful and eloquently-worded.
Olaitan, who studied history and diplomatic studies at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, is a copywriter, chief content writer at The Gift of Chees, story-teller, thinker, socisl impact frontier, among others.
With his debut, “Blindspot”, which earned early foreword applause from Olawale Ashimi, popularly known as Brymo and for deep poetic inclination, Olaitan moved the ball forward with “All Arrant Verses.”
Not many are gifted with the ability to impose extraordinary reality on ordinary words. It was this rare miracle that baffled the Palestinian Poet, Mahmoud Darwish, when he said, “How can the sea be imprisoned in three letters…How can words have enough space to embrace the world?”
This special ability is consciously harnessed and displayed from the opening poem to the last poem. Each poem with its distinct story; a merger of intense lines, rude aesthetics, defiance, social-commentary, personal expression, vulnerability and philosophic humour. Don Marquis revealed, “publishing a volume of verse is like dropping a rose-petal down the Grand Canyon and waiting for the echo.”
Minkail Olaitan’s “All Arrant Verses” does have echo; and it’s splintered across themes. Each poem is a song stripped of beat, each running through consistent rhythms and clothed in lucid metaphors.
