Mr. Mubaraq Famakin, popularly known as Dopeman, has been elected as the new President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology following the conclusion of the institution’s Students’ Union election, held today.
Students of the university turned out in large numbers to participate in the electoral process, voting to elect leaders who will oversee the affairs of the student body.
According to the official results released by the Electoral Committee and signed by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Adewusi John Adepoju, Famakin polled 5,920 votes to defeat his closest rival, Muhammad Babatunde Ayanwale of the Department of Anatomy, who secured 5,353 votes.
Famakin, a student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is expected to lead the union for the next academic session.
The election was conducted peacefully, with students exercising their franchise online (on the school portal).
The announcement of the results was greeted with jubilation by Famakin’s supporters, who celebrated his victory shortly after the declaration.
