The Ogbomoso Indigenous Forum (OIF), Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Ogbomoso, Oyo State has congratulated one of its members, Dr Abiodun Oladunni Akanni, on the successful defence of his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) thesis at the Department of Computer Engineering, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
OIF is an association of Ogbomoso indigenes working at the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, established to promote unity, mutual support and the collective interests of its members.
The forum, in a congratulatory statement signed by its Chairman, Dr Saheed Akande Shittu, and Secretary, Mr Siyanbola Olusola Ojo, described the successful defence as a great academic achievement and a source of pride to the Ogbomoso community.
The body applauded Dr Akanni’s research which focuses on the development of an “Enhanced Convolutional Neural Network for Face Mask Wearing Identification”, an artificial intelligence-based system designed to improve the identification of individuals wearing face masks, supervised by Professor John Oladosu of the Department of Computer Engineering, LAUTECH.
The OIF said the achievement reflects the commitment of Ogbomoso indigenes in the academic community to research, innovation and the application of technology to contemporary challenges.
The forum congratulated Dr Akanni on the successful completion of his doctoral programme and wished him greater accomplishments in his academic and professional pursuits.
