A prominent politician in Ogbomoso and former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, Hon. Olufemi Oladokun Onireti,will today, officially defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside several political associates and supporters.
The official defection ceremony is scheduled to hold at the APC Zonal Office, Apake, Ogbomoso, by 10:00 a.m., where party faithful, political stakeholders and supporters are expected to gather in large numbers.
Hon. Onireti, an entrepreneur, philanthropist and politician, contested the House of Representatives seat for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency on the platform of the PDP during the last general election, where he lost narrowly in a keenly contested poll.
The event is expected to witness the formal entry of thousands of supporters into the APC fold, signaling what observers describe as a significant political development in the Ogbomoso axis ahead of future political activities in Oyo State.
Among notable political figures expected to defect alongside Onireti are Hon. Felix Akande, Hon. Dayo Fagbemi, TPL Odetunde Williams, Mr. David Oyeniran and Hon. Ajibola Olawale.
Hon. Onireti, who is also the Director of the CityBoy Movement in Oyo State, has remained active in grassroots mobilization and community development initiatives across the constituency.
Pan-Nigerian News reports that Onireti has directly committed with communities in terms of supports, infrastructure, and community development.
