The Women Missionary Union (WMU) of First Baptist Church Okeelerin on Saturday honoured 13 mothers in the church for their exceptional and selfless contributions to the growth of the church and humanity.
The recognition formed part of the activities marking the church’s ongoing WMU week celebration aimed at appreciating women for their spiritual, moral and humanitarian impacts within the church and society.

Among dignitaries present at the event was Dr. Mrs. Mary Niyi-Ojo, wife of the President of the Ogbomoso Baptist Conference, Reverend Thomas Niyi-Ojo, who attended the programme in celebration of her mother-in-law.

Speaking on the theme, “Phoebe, a Helper of Many,” Mrs. Oluwadara Oyelowo, wife of the Minister-in-Charge of the church, Revd Dr. Victor Oyelowo, charged women in the church and beyond to continually support and uplift people in need through acts of kindness and service.

She urged women to emulate the biblical example of Phoebe by contributing meaningfully to the welfare of others and helping to solve societal challenges.
“Have you all indeed been people’s helpers? As we read in the Bible, let us continue to contribute in solving other people’s problems,” she said.
“Let us rise and do whatever lies in our hands. This transcends the church. It is expected of us to be of immense help to people in our streets, communities and beyond. As we celebrate, let us remember that God expects us to do more.”
The representative of the honourees expressed gratitude to God, the church leadership and the WMU for finding them worthy of recognition.
“On behalf of all of us, I bring heartfelt greetings to you all for celebrating Jesus in us. As you celebrate us today, God will celebrate you all. Our union will continue to prosper,” she said.

Those honoured include Madams Alice Olawuyi-Ajolaye, Ayobami Oni, Monilola Adebayo, Mary Oladejo, Dorcas
