Ranchers Bees FC of Kaduna has signed former Kwara United Captain, Kabiru Magaji, to strengthen their squad ahead of the club’s return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after 18 years.
Magaji was officially unveiled on Tuesday at the club’s secretariat by the General Manager of Ranchers Bees FC, Kabiru Mu’azu, following the completion of his move to the club.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Mu’azu described the defender as an experienced player whose leadership qualities would be crucial to the team’s ambitions in the top-flight league.
According to him, the club is determined to build a competitive squad capable of holding its own against established NPFL club-sides.
“The arrival of Kabiru Magaji is a major boost for us. He is a proven leader, a disciplined professional player and a player who understands the demands of Nigerian football.
“We believe his experience will help strengthen our defence and guide younger players as we prepare for a challenging season,” Mu’azu said.
He said that Magaji was the club’s first signing for the season, adding: “With time, more players will be added to strengthen the team.”
Responding, Magaji, who captained Kwara United FC while with the club, pledged to contribute his experience towards helping Ranchers Bees achieve their objectives.
The defender said he was delighted to join the historic Kaduna club-side and looked forward to helping the team establish itself in the country’s top-flight league.
A member of the club’s technical crew, Coach Ibrahim Sani, also welcomed the signing, noting that Magaji’s experience would bring stability to the team.
He said the former Kwara United captain possessed the qualities needed to improve the club’s defensive organisation.
“Players like Magaji are valuable because they bring leadership and confidence to the dressing room. His presence will positively influence the team both on and off the football pitch,” Sani said.
Another football coach in Kaduna, Hassan Abdulrahman, described the acquisition as a smart move by the club’s management.
According to him, Ranchers Bees need experienced players to complement the youthful talents in the squad as they prepare for life in the NPFL.
“Experience is very important in the NPFL. Magaji has played at the highest level in the country and understands what it takes to compete. This is a quality signing for Ranchers Bees,” he said.
Some of the club’s supporters who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) expressed optimism that the defender would help the club achieve a successful campaign.
Samuel Yakubu, a long-time supporter of the club, said that the signing showed the seriousness of the management.
“We are happy with the quality of players being brought into the team. Magaji is a respected defender and his arrival gives us confidence ahead of the season,” he said.
Ranchers Bees recently secured promotion to the NPFL after an 18-year absence, marking a significant milestone in the club’s resurgence.
