A former acting Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede (FEDPA), Ogbomoso and Director of Special Duties, Engr. Dr Temilola Morufat Adepoju, has expressed appreciation to her husband, colleagues, staff, former and current students, as well as other members of the Polytechnic community for their support and encouragement during her time at the institution.
Dr Adepoju made the remarks on Wednesday when members of staff gathered at her office to celebrate her birthday.
She also advised women to be submissive to their husbands, saying that combining professional responsibilities with proper attention to the home front was essential for women who desired to succeed in their various callings.
Adepoju said she was not accustomed to celebrating her birthday, explaining that she usually dedicated the day to communing with her Creator.
She, however, said she decided to yield to the request of members of staff who insisted on celebrating her.
Dr Adepoju expressed special appreciation to her husband, Prof. Gafari Adepoju, for his support, as well as the immediate past Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, and the incumbent Rector, Dr Isiaka Tunji Adelabu.
She also thanked the Registrar, Mr Akinlolu Akinpade; the Bursar, Mr Mufutau Alao; other members of staff; and former and current students of the Polytechnic for their contributions, encouragement and goodwill.
Speaking at the occasion, the Registrar, Mr Akinlolu Akinpade, said he had known Dr Adepoju for more than two decades, describing her humility and dedication to duty as qualities that endeared her to him.
He prayed that God would spare her life and elevate her to greater heights.
Similarly, the Bursar, Mr Alao, described Dr Adepoju as an epitome of good character and brilliance.
According to him, the celebrant’s thirst for knowledge and commitment to thoroughness were exceptional.
He wished her long life, good health and many fruitful years filled with happiness and great accomplishments.
The acting Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Mrs.Halimah Odunayo Amuda, described the celebrant as a rare being who values friendship.
She added that she (Adepoju) is always quick to forgive.
Dr. Amuda said, “I have known Engr. Dr. Mrs..Adepoju for about three decades. So, here as we gather, I am her oldest friend. And I wish her success in life.”
Among those who attended the celebration were acting Director of Internal Audit and Securities, Mr Asimiyu Oyediran; and other members of staff.
