FEDPA Tourism Management Students Visit UI Zoo, National Museum on Academic Trip

Students of the Department of Tourism Management Technology (TMT), Federal Polytechnic Ayede (FEDPA), have embarked on an academic field trip to the University of Ibadan Zoological Garden and the National Museum of Unity, Alesinloye, Ibadan.
The field trip, which involved students of the National Diploma I (ND I) and National Diploma II (ND II) classes, was organised in line with the requirements of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for practical exposure of students to real-world tourism environments.
The exercise was designed to deepen the students’ practical knowledge and understanding of nature-based tourism, arts, heritage and cultural tourism, while complementing classroom teaching with firsthand experience of recognised tourism and cultural sites.
At the University of Ibadan Zoological Garden, the students were exposed to aspects of nature-based tourism and wildlife management, while their visit to the National Museum of Unity, Alesinloye, provided practical insight into Nigeria’s cultural heritage, arts and historical resources.
The students were accompanied on the academic excursion by members of staff of the department, including Mr Okonkwo Chiedozie Michael, Mrs Oyeyiola Rebecca Titilope, Mrs Adedeji Blessing Oreka, Mrs Zakaria Aisha Ronke and Mr Anyogu Rockfeller Chike.
Speaking on the field trip, the Head of the Department, Mrs Shakirat Abolaji Oyinloye, expressed appreciation to the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Isiaka Tunji Adelabu, for supporting the initiative and creating an enabling environment for the students to gain practical experience.
She also appreciated the management of the institution, staff of the department and the students for their support, cooperation and commitment towards the successful execution of the trip.
Oyinloye further expressed gratitude to Almighty God for making the academic excursion possible, describing the experience as an important opportunity for the students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical realities in the tourism industry.
She said the department remained committed to providing students with relevant academic and practical experiences that would prepare them for professional careers in the tourism and hospitality sector.
