The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ogbomoso Zone, has inaugurated a chaplain and executive members of the Christian Community at the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede (FEDPA).
The event, held on temporary campus, Iresa-Pupa, drew attendees from different walks of life, including clerics, other guests, school officials, staff, and students.
Delivering the message, Reverend Dr. Femi Babajide, Chaplain of the University of Ilorin, spoke on the purpose of man on earth.
Drawing his message from the biblical Jonah, he emphasised the importance of obedience to God’s will, noting that God could use diverse means to accomplish His purpose.
He urged the newly inaugurated Chaplain cum Chairman of Christian Community on Campus (CCC), Peter S. Okechukwu, the entire 20-man
executive, and the entire congregation to live purpose-driven life, stressing the need for spiritual rebirth and righteousness.
Dr. Babajide lamented the persistence of sin despite the proliferation of churches and religious activities, calling on individuals to genuinely accept God and live transformed lives.
In his remarks, Dr. Kehinde Odelade provided a brief history of the Christian Community Fellowship on campus.
He explained that the fellowship comprises both staff and students united by a shared commitment to uphold the Christian faith and propagate the gospel.
According to him, the fellowship held its first meeting on February 3, 2023, with a significant turnout of Christian staff, and has since grown into an active religious body within the institution.
The ceremony also featured soul-lifting musical renditions by the fellowship choir, alongside prayers offered for the institution’s management, staff, students, as well as the newly inaugurated chaplain and executive members.
Speaking at the event, Reverend Dr. Samuel Owoade, Chaplain of the Soun Palace and representative of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, encouraged Christians to be proactive in spreading the gospel.
He noted that with the large number of believers available today, there is no justification for failing to advance the Christian faith.

Also speaking, former CAN Chairman, Ogbomoso Zone, Venerable Dr. J. S. Adegoke, formally introduced the new CAN Chairman for the zone, Reverend Wale Adegbola.
He charged the newly inaugurated executive to build on the achievements of their predecessors while urging the outgoing leaders to support the new team.
Dignitaries at the event included Reverend David Olawuyi, Chaplain of LAUTECH; Reverend Dr. Femi Babajide, Chaplain of the University of Ilorin; Dr. Hezekiah Olaleye, Chaplain of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede; and Deacon Ayo Akinteye of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.
Others were the CAN Chairman, Ogbomoso Zone, Reverend Wale Adegbola; former CAN Chairman, Venerable Dr. J.S. Adegoke; Reverend Dr. Samuel Owoade.
Principal Officers and Management Members of FEDPA in atrendance included: Registrar, Mrs. Bukola Elizabeth Dairo; acting Polytechnic Librarian , Mr. Dare Samuel Adeleke; Deputy Registrar and Director of SERVICOM, Mr. G.K. Olantinwo, represented by Mrs. Janet Odebunmi; Dean of School of Engineering Technology , Engr. Dr. Oluwafemi Jacob Ayangbekun; Director of Research Development, Innovation and Grants Management, Dr. Kehinde Abraham Odelade; Director of Centre for Skills Aquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Oluwaseun Owojori; Director of the Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations, Mr. Sunday Adepoju alongside staff and students of the institution.
