Federal Polytechnic Ayede has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Govenor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the nation’s security agencies for their coordinated efforts that culminated in the release of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The commendation was conveyed by the acting Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, in a statement issued on Tuesday through the acting Director of the Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations (CICPR), Sunday Adepoju.
While expressing joy over the safe return of the victims, the acting Rector extended the institution’s heartfelt condolences to the families of the two teachers, Mr. Michael Oyedokun and Dn. John Olaleye, who lost their lives during the unfortunate incident, describing their deaths as a tragic loss to the education sector and the nation.
Dr. Adepoju said the rescue operation stresses the commitment of the Federal and Oyo State Governments, as well as the professionalism, courage and resilience of the security agencies involved.
She noted that the development has restored hope to residents of Oriire Local Government Area and Ogbomosoland, while reassuring citizens that government and security institutions remain committed to protecting lives and property.
According to her, “On behalf of the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, under the able leadership of Honourable Yakubu Dati, the Management, staff and students of the institution, I sincerely commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde and all the security agencies for their commitment, patriotism and coordinated efforts that led to the safe release of the abducted pupils and teachers.
“We equally congratulate the families of the rescued victims, the people of Oriire Local Government Area and the entire Ogbomosoland on this welcome development.”
She added, “As we celebrate the safe return of the abductees, we are deeply saddened by the painful loss of two dedicated teachers, Mr. Michael Oyedokun and Dn. John Olaleye, who paid the supreme sacrifice.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families, colleagues and the entire education community, and pray that Almighty God grants the departed eternal rest and gives their loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
She also urged security agencies to sustain ongoing operations aimed at combating kidnapping and other criminal activities, particularly in rural communities, to guarantee the safety of schoolchildren, teachers and other residents.
She reaffirmed Federal Polytechnic Ayede’s commitment to promoting peace, security and quality education, stressing that a secure environment remains fundamental to effective teaching, learning and sustainable national development.
