The Department of Business Administration and Management has been crowned champion of the just concluded 2026 3rd Edition of the Annual Rector’s Cup after defeating the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology 1-0 in regulation time.
Speaking at the event, the acting Rector, Engr. Dr. Mrs. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, expressed gratitude to the organisers of the competition, led by Alhaji Bashiru Olufihan Bello, staff, and students for their support towards the success of this year’s edition.

Dr. Adepoju also charged the participating teams to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship. “I want to encourage you again, as I did on the opening day of this sporting event, that this is not just a competition but an exercise among yourselves. So, take it easy on the pitch and celebrate with the winners at the end.”
The final match, which held at the FEDPA Sports Field, commenced with the inspection of the competing teams by the acting Rector, Engr. Dr. Mrs. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, at 3:00 p.m.

The match kicked off at 3:20 p.m. and lived up to expectations, producing end-to-end action with an electrifying atmosphere that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
The first half ended in a goalless draw at 4:05 p.m.
The second half commenced at 4:20 p.m., with both teams coming into the final stage strongly, determined to make history by winning the coveted trophy.

It was the Department of Business Administration and Management that showed greater determination as they broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half when Oriade Victor, wearing jersey number 11, calmly slotted home to give his side a deserved 1-0 lead.
Despite several chances created by the players of the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, they could not find the back of their opponents’ net before regulation time, and the match ended 1-0 in favour of the Department of Business Administration and Management.

In her closing address, the Dr. Adepoju, congratulated the Department of Business Administration and Management, winners of this edition, and presented the trophy and gifts to the team.
She also thanked Almighty God for keeping all participants in the tournament safe. “I thank God that throughout the period of this tournament, we did not record any accident or casualty.”


The donors of the gift items for the winners of this 3rd Edition of the Annual Rector’s Cup include Engr. Prof. G. A. Adepoju of the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso; Hon. Adesoji Adedeji, APC Deputy Governorship candidate in Oyo State, represented by Mr. Inaolaji Akinloye Adisa; and a friend of the Polytechnic, Alhaji Adeniyi Monsuru Adebayo, Founder of the Adeniyi Monsuru Adebayo Foundation who is the MD, Tera & Pico Engineering and Construction Services Limited, Osogbo.



The Head of Department of Business Administration and Management, Dr. Mufutawu Akanmu Popoola, also donated N20,000 to the champion.
Present with the acting Rector at the final match were the Registrar, Mr. Akinlolu Akinpade; the Bursar, Mr. Muftau Alao; the acting Polytechnic Librarian, Mr. Dare Samuel Adeleke; Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments/Units, and members of staff of the institution.
