The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, Dr. Adekunle Samson Adegbite, has congratulated traditional rulers across Ogbomoso Zone, particularly the monarchs in Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, over the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers of Oriire Local Government Area who were abducted by suspected bandits.
Dr. Adegbite particularly felicitated the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege; the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olushola Alao; the Onpetu of Ijeru Kingdom, Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran; the Alajaawa of Ajaawa, Oba Thomson Adeyeye Oyetunji; the Aresa-Pupa of Iresa-Pupa, Oba Moses Olayiwola Ajiboye; the Aale of Okeelerin, Oba Samuel Oyebamiji Amao; Onisapa of Isapa, Oba Olajide Ezekiel Bolarinwa; Oloko of Oko; and other royal fathers too numerous to mention across the zone for their commitment to the peace, security and development of their respective communities.
Stressing that the listed traditional rulers are points of contact to other monarchs, Adegbite said the roles of Obas could not be underestimated on community security.
He described the rescue of the victims as a great relief to their families, the people of Oriire Local Government and the entire Ogbomosoland, noting that their safe return reflected the value of unity, collaboration and sustained efforts by all stakeholders.
In a press statement, the NDC candidate commended the traditional rulers for standing firmly with the people throughout the difficult period and for complementing the efforts of government and security agencies through continuous engagement, advocacy and prayers.
He also applauded the security agencies, the Oyo State Government, community leaders, religious leaders and all individuals who contributed to the successful rescue operation, saying the development has renewed hope in the collective fight against insecurity.
Dr. Adegbite urged governments at all levels to strengthen security architecture, particularly in rural communities, to prevent future occurrences and guarantee the safety of lives and property.
While thanking God for the successful rescue of the abductees, he prayed for enduring peace, security and development across Ogbomoso Zone, Oyo State and Nigeria.
“I heartily congratulate all our revered traditional rulers across Ogbomoso Zone, especially the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III; the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, the Onpetu of Ijeru, the Aresa-Pupa of Iresa-Pupa, the Oloolo of Oolo, the Aale of Okeelerin, Oba Samuel Oyebamiji Amao; Onisapa of Isapa kingdom, Oba Olajide Ezekiel Bolarinwa; and other royal fathers in Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, on the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers of Oriire Local Government Area.
“The commitment, prayers and collaboration of our traditional institution with government, security agencies and other stakeholders played a significant role in sustaining hope until the victims regained their freedom. I congratulate all our royal fathers on this cheering development.”
Stressing that the listed traditional rulers were mentioned only as points of contact, Dr. Adegbite explained that his message is extended to all traditional rulers across Ogbomoso Zone, including those in Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, whose names were too numerous to mention individually.
In particular, Adegbite, recognising that Onikoyi’s stool as Oriire LGA’s Head of the Traditional Council is vacant, expressed his felicitations to all the traditional rulers and high chiefs of Onikoyi in the council area.
He noted that royal fathers in the zone played significant roles in promoting peace, security, unity and development in their respective communities, adding that the contributions of the traditional institution, security agencies, governments, religious bodies, among others, to the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers deserved commendation.
Dr. Adegbite reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote security, community development and the overall welfare of the people of Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency.
