Oriire 2026: Vice chairmanship, councillorship candidates back APM candidate, Omo Leader

As the 2026 Oyo State local government election approaches, the vice chairmanship candidate and all the councillorship candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oriire Local Government Area have thrown their weight behind the party’s chairmanship candidate, Hon. Afeez Adigun Tijani, popularly known as Omo Leader.
The candidates, led by Omo Leader’s running mate, Alhaja Taibat Saliu, pledged their support for the chairmanship candidate, describing him as a capable and experienced politician with the capacity to provide purposeful leadership and transform the local government area.
The development followed a series of stakeholders’ engagements and consultations by the APM chairmanship candidate, after which the party’s candidates across the various wards reaffirmed their commitment to working together for the success of the party in the forthcoming election.
Saliu urged party members and supporters across Oriire to remain united and focused, stressing that victory for the APM would require collective efforts, mutual understanding and a strong grassroots mobilisation strategy.
She assured the chairmanship candidate of the commitment of the vice chairmanship and councillorship candidates to the campaign, saying they would work together to take the party’s message of good governance, accountability and grassroots development to every ward and community in the local government.
The councillorship candidates, representing the various wards in Oriire, also expressed confidence in Omo Leader’s leadership qualities, noting that his grassroots connections and understanding of the needs of the people positioned him to lead the local government effectively.
They called on APM supporters to close ranks and mobilise voters across their respective wards, saying the party’s candidates must present a united front ahead of the election.
In his response, Omo Leader appreciated the candidates for their confidence and support, assuring them that his administration, if elected, would operate an inclusive government that would give all wards and communities a sense of belonging.
He said the success of the APM campaign would depend on teamwork, unity and commitment among all candidates and supporters, urging them to continue engaging with the people and explaining the party’s vision for the development of Oriire Local Government.
Omo Leader further appealed to party members to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the campaign, stressing that the election should be approached with maturity, respect for democratic values and commitment to the progress of Oriire.
He said he remained committed to running a people-oriented administration focused on grassroots development, youth empowerment, improved infrastructure and the welfare of residents if elected as chairman.
