Not fewer than 556 engineering graduates of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, were on Tuesday formally inducted into the engineering profession by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
This induction ceremony, organised by the Nigerian Society of Engineers in partnership with LAUTECH, marks the 20th of its kind.
Speaking at the occasion, the President of the NSE, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, urged the newly inducted engineers to focus on what they could contribute to make the Nigerian society a better place.
Rabiu, who was represented by the Chairman of the NSE Pioneer (Ibadan) Branch, Engr. Ayokunle Olukunmi Ojedele, congratulated the inductees on their achievement and reminded them of the responsibility that comes with the honour. He charged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the NSE.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Innovations), Professor Dahud Olurotimi Araromi, acknowledged the collective efforts of respected Nigerians in shaping the graduates into professionals.
He urged the newly inducted engineers to focus on what they could contribute to make the Nigerian society a better place.
He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining high standards in engineering education. He noted that LAUTECH remains determined to sustain its reputation as one of the best engineering institutions in the country.
The Chairman, NSE Ogbomoso Branch, Engr. Prof. (Mrs.) Alice O. Oke, conducted the induction of new graduate members by administering the oath.
In her welcome speech, Prof. Oke charged the inductees to build on the strong engineering foundation laid by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), LAUTECH, by embracing innovation and excellence.
She enjoined them not to rest on their oars, but to remain focused, resilient, and committed to continuous growth until they attain the peak of their professional careers.
The event also featured the induction of female inductees into the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), conducted by Engr. Prof. Funmi N. Osuolale, the chairman of Ogbomoso Chapter.
