The Centre for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development of the Federal Polytechnic Ayede (FEDPA) has commenced training for another batch of students in various vocational and entrepreneurial skills under the Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ) programme of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
In her remarks, the acting Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, said the initiative reflects the Polytechnic’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also practically skilled and industry-ready.
“This programme represents a significant step in our commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also practically skilled and industry-ready. In today’s dynamic and competitive environment, skills are the true currency of success, and academic knowledge alone is no longer sufficient,” she said.
She added that the ability to apply knowledge, solve real-life problems, and create value distinguishes successful graduates, noting that the initiative is designed to equip students with essential competencies.
“To our students, the knowledge and skills you acquire here have the potential to shape your future and position you as creators of opportunities in society,” she stated.
Dr. Adepoju also appreciated the facilitators, assessors, and partners for their dedication to mentoring students, reiterating the institution’s commitment to advancing skill development, fostering innovation, and contributing meaningfully to national growth.
The Registrar, Mrs. Bukola Elizabeth Dairo, also in a remark, commended the organisers, including the facilitators and trainees.
Mrs. Dairo also tasked the trainees to make judicious use of the opportunities provided.
Speaking earlier, the acting Director of the centre, Mr. Oluwaseun Christopher Owojori, described the exercise as the first Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ) programme since the inception of the Polytechnic.
He urged participating students to take the training seriously, noting that the certificates awarded at the end of the programme is globally recognised and enhances employability.
Owojori explained that participants would be assessed by certified assessors before receiving their certificates, ensuring that only qualified candidates are certified.
Also speaking, the Centre Manager, Engr. Adenle Adiatu, listed the skills offered in the training to include electrical installation, solar power installation, painting and interior decoration, social media communication, hospitality and catering services, fashion design and garment making, cosmetology, computer hardware, plumbing, and event decoration.
Dignitaries present at the programme included the Acting Rector, Engr. Dr. T. M. Adepoju; the Registrar, Mrs. Bukola Elizabeth Dairo; the Bursar, Mr. Oluwaseyi Afolabi; the Acting Librarian, Mr. Dare Adeleke; as well as Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments and Units, staff, as well as students of the institution.
