The acting Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Engr. Dr. Temilola Morufat Adepoju, has congratulated the Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, on the release of the pupils and teachers who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Dr. Adepoju also congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and all stakeholders whose collective efforts contributed to the rescue of the abducted victims.
The acting Rector equally expressed heartfelt condolences to the families, colleagues and loved ones of the two teachers who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident, Mr. Michael Oyedokun and Dr. John Olaleye, describing their deaths as painful and a great loss to the education sector and humanity.
Speaking through the acting Director of the Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations (CICPR), Mr. Sunday Adepoju, Dr. Adepoju commended the relentless efforts of the Soun of Ogbomosoland in mobilising relevant stakeholders, collaborating with security agencies and providing leadership throughout the period of the unfortunate abduction.
She noted that the monarch’s commitment, courage and fatherly concern for the safety of the victims and the entire Ogbomoso zone reflected his dedication to the peace, security and well-being of his people.
She also expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening national security, Governor Seyi Makinde for providing the necessary support and coordination at the state level, and the various security agencies for their professionalism, resilience and sacrifice in ensuring the safe release of the abducted pupils and teachers. She further acknowledged the invaluable contributions of traditional rulers, community leaders, volunteers and all well-meaning individuals who played one role or another in the rescue efforts.
While rejoicing with the families of those who regained their freedom, she prayed that God would grant the bereaved families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of their loved ones.
Dr. Adepoju further called for sustained collaboration among governments, traditional institutions, security agencies and communities to strengthen security across Ogbomoso and its environs, stressing that educational institutions must remain safe havens for learning.
She prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of Mr. Michael Oyedokun and Dn. John Olaleye and asked God to grant lasting peace and security across Oyo State and Nigeria.
