The campaign organisation of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, Dr. Adekunle Samson Adegbite (popularly known as TWINDAD), has dismissed as false and misleading reports alleging that the party, its candidate and their teeming supporters are working for another candidate in the forthcoming election.
The Director-General of the campaign organisation, Surveyor John Oladejo Oladepo, made the clarification in a statement issued on Saturday in Ogbomoso, describing the allegation as a calculated attempt by political opponents to mislead the electorate and undermine the growing popularity of the NDC candidate.
Surveyor Oladepo said there was no truth whatsoever in the claim, stressing that the National Democratic Congress, Dr. Adegbite and their massive supporters remain fully committed to the ideals, programmes and electoral victory of the party.
According to him, those behind the rumour are only seeking to confuse voters and discourage the teeming supporters of the NDC from casting their votes for the party’s candidates during the forthcoming election.
He maintained that Dr. Adegbite has continued to receive overwhelming support across Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Local Government Areas because of his track record of philanthropy, community development and unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of the people.
“The false narrative being circulated in some quarters is a desperate attempt to distract our campaign. It is entirely unfounded and should be disregarded by members of the public,” the statement said.
Surveyor Oladepo added that the NDC campaign remained focused on selling its manifesto and engaging the electorate on issues of quality representation, youth empowerment, quality education, economic development and improved infrastructure across the federal constituency.
He urged party members, supporters and residents not to be swayed by misinformation, fake news and propaganda designed to derail the campaign.
The Director-General reaffirmed that Dr. Adegbite is contesting the election to provide purposeful, people-centred and impactful representation at the House of Representatives, noting that the campaign would continue to reach every community with its message of hope, inclusive development and good governance.
He appealed to the electorate to remain steadfast in their support for the NDC candidate and to ignore what he described as “baseless political mischief” orchestrated by those uncomfortable with the increasing acceptance and growing popularity of Dr. Adegbite and the National Democratic Congress across the constituency.
