Residents of Oko have continued to express excitement following the commencement of the installation of over 100 solar-powered streetlights project facilitated by an Oranmiyan Prince,
Omooba Adedamola Olaniyan, as part of efforts aimed at improving infrastructure and security within the communities.
According to Olaniyan who spoke through TPL Prince Tunji Olaniyan, the project, a Federal Government intervention initiative, is currently ongoing in several strategic locations across the town and is expected to significantly improve night-time visibility, security and commercial activities upon completion.
Speaking during the groundbreaking and inspection of the ongoing installation, Prince Olaniyan explained that the project was facilitated out of his personal commitment to the development of Oko and not through any politician or political office holder.
According to him, “Development should not always be tied to politics. As a proud son of Oko, I believe it is important to contribute meaningfully to the progress of our community. This project is purely borne out of my passion to give back to the land that nurtured me.”
He added that the project reflects his desire to support grassroots development and improve the welfare of residents.
“Our people deserve a safer and more conducive environment. These solar streetlights will not only brighten our roads but also enhance security and stimulate socio-economic activities, especially at night,” he stated.
He disclosed that the ongoing installation covers over 100 solar-powered streetlights, assuring residents that more developmental projects and additional streetlights would be facilitated in the near future.
He also assured members of the community that the project would be fully completed within the next few weeks for the benefit of all residents of the town.
Residents and community stakeholders commended the initiative, describing it as a laudable and impactful development capable of improving security and enhancing economic activities within the community.
Many residents noted that the intervention reflects a strong commitment to grassroots development and community service, while expressing optimism that the completion of the project would usher in a new phase of growth and progress for Oko town.
